Please introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Emily Gildenberg, I’m 25 years old and I live in beautiful cologne in Germany. When I was a child I always liked to take a picture of something. 2017 I started shoot lost places and 2020 in August I started to photograph with an analog camera and I totally fell in love with it. Now I do a lot of experiments and want to concentrate more on portraits.

Your Instagram Account shows impressive travel photography. Which countries has influenced you the most and why?

This year I was on the islands Fuerteventura and Sicily.  Fuerteventura was a bit different than I expected, because there are almost no plants and there were no crowded places. The landscape looks like kind of the planet mars - but it was a challenge and something different and special too. I had to learn to teach my eye to see beautiful things in another way. Sicily was such a beautiful island. It gave me sooo much for my eyes. I saw art in every corner. In the small town i lived, there were small streets and so many beautiful plants hanging from the balcony. Beautiful art everywhere. At this time I was doing more double exposures and so I learned a lot of it. Also when you have too much impressions you also see the little things. Both countries helped me a lot

Which camera and equipment do you prefer?

I shoot digital and analog. I need to say .. I prefer my analog camera, its a Canon A 1. It makes me think a lot of the picture I want to take and every photo is special to me. I don’t use that much equipment. For now I am happy with my tripod and a lamp with changing lightcolours.

Do you remember your first analog shoot? Which theme was it?

I remember I shoot everything in my livingroom, especially a lot of plants (I have a lot). This was only a test for me and a few days later I travelled to Fuerteventura.

Emily, you´re also engage in portrait photography. Who would you like to photograph the most?

There is no person I want to photograph the most. I think it would be great to spend the whole day with an interesting person, maybe a singer or a dancer, because those people are full of emotions and want to express something beautiful - to catch feelings on a photo and make memories .. what would be something special to me.

You captured amazing pictures with our KONO! Original Sunstroke. Please tell us something about.

Thank you very much! Every photo I take with my analog camera is a little surprise to me. With the KONO! Original Sunstroke it was a double surprise, because you will never know where the lightleaks will appear on your photo - and this is a beautiful special effect. The next aspect: it gives the picture a retro charm.

What do you think about the future of the analog photography?

I believe that this type of photography will never die, maybe it will become more popular. Nowdays a lot is automated with digital photography, quite contrary to analog photography. At some point you get stuck as aphotographer and you have to broaden your horizon and to be aware of how to create a photo in another way. You can learn so much more!

Do you want to tell us about your upcoming projects?

I started a new project with plastic and in the future I hope there will be more plants included. The rest will be a surprise.

Where can we see more of your work?

I only have my two accounts on Instagram: „lichtermalerei“ and „emilygildenberg“. But you can also follow me on behance. Hopefully a homepage will come soon.
